Reports Directly: ILS Supportability Engineering Lead - MOB

Indirectly: Director Home Port Operations - SDCA

Indirectly: Manager Sustainment Support Engineering

SUPERVISES: None

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the following ILS Engineering functions:
    • Technical Manual validation for accuracy
    • Provisioning Technical Documentation verification
    • Outfitting activities/COSAL cognizance (SRI, GFE, CFE, OSI etc.)
    • Damage Control diagram and Damage Control book validation
    • Configuration validation and Change Controls reporting
    • 4 E Spec Configuration execution reporting for ILS Documentation CDRLs submission
    • ILS Obsolescence and Warranty reporting for DMSMS and Reliability, Availability Maintainability reporting to Govt.  
    • Interface with OEMs and Suppliers to obtain Vendor Furnished Information.
    • Assists AEL Development/Maintenance
  • Willingness to cross-train within ILS Engineering
  • Interpret construction drawings for CSA development
  • Conduct random material audits of shipbuilder provided COSAL material to ensure compliance with allowancing and contractual requirements.  
  • Other duties as assigned by the  ILS PDSS Program Lead and ILS Configuration Lead

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred BA or BS degree from an accredited university, preferably in Logistic, System, Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical engineering with minimum Eight (8) years of Supportability/Logistics/Systems Engineering related Analysis experience on government contracts; or minimum ten (10) years relevant demonstrated ILS related experience
  • Six (6) years’ experience and knowledge of  U.S. Navy:
    • Damage Control maintenance
    • Ship Selected Records Documents (SSRD), Specification Control Drawings (SCD)s and NAVSUP instructions and processes
    • Quality assurance
    • Military Standard Requisitioning and Issue Procedures (MILSTRIP) Military Standard Transaction Reporting & Accounting Procedure(s) (MILSTRAP) DOD supply system
    • Maintenance Index Page (MIP), Maintenance Requirement Card (MRC) significant to U.S. Ship
    • Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual 4E (JFFM)
    • Maintenance and Material Management System (3M) Manual
    • Equipment/System maintenance analysis
  • Knowledge of Expanded Ship Work Breakdown Structure (ESWBS) and Hierarchical Structure Code (HSC) usage
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Programs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and solution to meet program requirements.
  • Works with all departments to ensure best information and decision making processes are being utilized.
  • Predominately exercises independent judgment in the performance of duties consistent with directives, policies, standards and regulation. 

LIAISES WITH: ILS Engineering, Other Engineering Disciplines, PDSS Hull Manager and Deputies, PDSS Sustainment Support Engineering Manager, Logistics Manager, Government personnel to include Crew Members, Equipment Suppliers and other as required.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
