Performs detailed analyses and appraisals integrating design for support, development and establishment of the support system, and support of the product.  Supports evaluations of design concepts to determine if concepts satisfy support requirements and the relative supportability of alternative concepts including performance-based support and business case analyses.

Participates in review of design concepts for supportability, Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) reviews, and logistics demonstrations.


  • Participates in proposal or concept development efforts to ensure logistic supportability considerations are incorporated into engineering design and comply with contractual and government requirements. Establishes requirements for supportability aspects of the design based on customer requirements.
  • Acts as interface for internal and external customers regarding assigned logistics supportability/maintainability issues in technical and program reviews and team meetings.
  • Creates, plans, and performs detailed engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, test and/or product assurance tasks for assigned portion of a project. Ensures tasks meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance requirements.
  • Develops and writes technical documentation, makes revisions to existing documentation, and provide input to technical papers or presentations. Delivers technical presentations.
  • Performs technical logistics analysis, calculations, and evaluates results to solve assigned tasks by creating or using computer programs, models, or simulations. Technical analyses include Life Cycle Cost (LCC)/Total Ownership Cost (TOC) estimates; front-end and detailed supportability analyses and cost tradeoff studies to optimize system cost from concept phase through the design, development, acquisition, deployment and disposal phases.
  • Prepares and presents project technical results, recommendations, and solutions to internal and external customers.
  • Provides input and status to project leaders on technical content, cost, schedule, and workload requirements.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with customers to resolve simple technical problems and implement solutions.
  • Provides technical review and guidance to other engineers in area of expertise.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering discipline(s), industry practices, trends, and applications. Advises management on new developments and programs.
  • Meets assigned schedules and budgets.
  • Interfaces with OEMs/Suppliers to obtain vendor-furnished information as needed
  • Ensures all change order activity in area of responsibility is processed, documented and communicated to rest of ILS Team
  • Must be willing to cross-train to other areas within ILS as necessary


  • General
    • Requires BS degree from an accredited university, preferably in Logistic, System, Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical engineering with minimum two  (2) years of Supportability/Logistics/Systems Engineering related Analysis experience on government contracts; or minimum five (5) years relevant demonstrated ILS related experience
  • Background in reading and working with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) vendor-furnished information including drawings and parts lists required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience interfacing with internal/external customers including equipment manufacturers, Supply Chain and Engineering personnel.
  • Life Cycle Cost (LCC) Estimating experience a plus
  • RMA modeling and analysis experience a plus
  • RCM Level II certification a plus
  • Prior U.S. Navy, MSC or USCG experience desired, but not required

Work is performed without appreciable direction making independent decisions to identify and solve support problems and methods.


Develops detailed solutions to problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Works with all departments to ensure best information and decision making processes are being utilized. Predominately exercises independent judgment in the performance of duties consistent with directives, policies, standards and regulations.

LIAISES WITH: External and internal customers to include Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Equipment Suppliers and ILS Support Contractors for assigned tasks
