REPORTS TO: Controller

SUPERVISES: N/A

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determines and develop tax strategies that provide economic value to the entire Company
  • Coordinates the tax reporting, tax planning, and compliance function of Austal USA
  • Oversees the completion of accurate tax returns in order to minimize the tax obligations of the organization
  • Maintains working knowledge of regulations at the Federal, State and Local levels
  • Analyses transactions for potential international tax consequences
  • Liaises with external tax firms and management for annual R&D tax credit
  • Provides support to Corporate Office and external tax firms for tax filings
  • Reviews all tax credits to ensure all benefits are being recognized
  • Ensures all schedules are complete with regards to information needed for filing of tax returns at designated times
  • Performs all tasks related to accounting for intercompany transactions to include reconciliations
  • Maintains the records for Austal Holdings, Inc. in conjunction with Austal Ltd
  • Reviews internal systems for Internal Revenue Code compliance
  • Maintains all book to tax accounts and calculates tax provisions as necessary
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned by Management
  • Complies with Austal’s employee handbook general guidelines, company procedures and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA Accounting or related field required, MST/MSA and CPA/CMA preferred
  • 5-8 years of in-depth tax strategy and management experience
  • Ability to work with limited direction in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to utilize Microsoft tools required 

ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES: 

All candidates must meet Austal USA’s basic employment eligibility guidelines:

  • 18 years or older at time of application
  • Able to provide proof of US Person status  (permanent resident or citizen)
  • No felony convictions of theft/deception or violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
  • No felony convictions of drug crimes within three years from disposition date
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen
  • Willing to submit to a background check

DISCRETION EXERCISED: Full discretionary authority to correct and discipline,

recommend pay increase, transfers, promotions, discharges, and process

grievances.
