Job Description

REPORTS TO: Manager Media & Marketing

SUPERVISES: N/A

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing & Communications Interns assist the Marketing and Communications team in various initiatives aimed at enhancing our brand presence and engagement.

  • Support the development of external communications materials including advertising, press releases, social media marketing efforts, etc.
  • Contribute to high marketing campaigns that further the company’s strategic goals
  • Assist in the creation of written, video, and image content for marketing channels
  • Actively participate in marketing brainstorming sessions by contributing creative input and ideas
  • Support development of content for Austal USA’s website redesign
  • Photograph key onsite events
  • Upload to and maintain Vimeo digital video account and Flickr digital imagery account
  • Assist with the logistical planning and coordination related to VIP and other visit/tour requests
  • Interact directly with key vendors and marketing/communications consultants
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • Junior or Senior year student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with successful completion of introductory courses in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field with an accredited university
  • Currently maintaining a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average (4.0 scale)
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Proficiency with social media platforms
  • Familiarity with design tools (Canva, etc.) is a plus
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills
  • Strong communication, research, and analytic skills required
  • Must be self-motivated to learn and succeed
  • Must be organized, energetic and familiar with today’s technology
  • Must be willing to verbalize innovative approaches and ideas to supervisor
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment and be adaptive to change as required
  •  Motivated by opportunities to take on challenges, assume responsibility, and accomplish meaningful results
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Excellent communication, research, and analytic skills required
