REPORTS TO:  Shop Planning Supervisor

SUPERVISES:  N/A

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides liaison between Planning/Scheduling and Production/Project Management.
  • Responsible for ensuring Build Strategy is in alignment with Engineering Product, Plan and Schedule. This will occur through build strategy and schedule   meetings, Field Change Requests, and coordination with field engineering, planners and schedulers.
  • Determine if the work scope finished, review completed work packages for material remnants, and determine the need for the balance of material. Work with business integration to clear excess material demand from IFS.
  • Coordinate alternate plans with purchasing, project management, production and scheduling when major material is late for installation.
  • Review work packages that remain open when a module has finished its stage of construction to determine if the work should have finished or correct the plan.  Correct future ship’s schedules to have the correct scope of work for each stage of construction.
  • Responsible for ensuring Production/Project Management feedback is captured through the VCD and that all feedback is dispositioned.
  • Works closely with production supervisory personnel to coordinate daily activities and the flow of interim products and materials in a dynamic environment to ensure smooth and efficient construction in accordance with detailed plans and schedules. Verify work package availability. Work with scheduling and production to balance planned work, manning and real estate availability.
  • Create and issue work packages as assigned
  • Monitors manning requirements to meet required workload.
  • Complies with Austal’s employee handbook general guidelines, company procedures and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three (3) years ship building experience. Two (2) years shipbuilding planning experience preferred or equivalent.
  • Degrees in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering can be substituted for work experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Must be able to organize and run meetings with multi departmental personal.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
  • Candidates must meet the following employment eligibility guidelines to be eligible for employment  with Austal USA:
    • 18 years or older at time of application
    • Able to provide proof of US Person status (permanent resident or citizen)
    • No felony convictions of theft/deception or violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
    • No felony convictions of drug crimes within three years from disposition date

    • Willing to submit to a background check
