Job Description

REPORTS TO: Sr. Lead Project Planner / Scheduler - SDCA

SUPERVISES: N/A

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Maintains consistent Production Control process and procedures with Mobile counterparts and department policy
  • Lead Project Scheduler is responsible for building, maintaining and analyzing the schedule for a vessel.
  • Integrate all aspects of the program from Engineering, Material, Production, Sub-contracting, Testing, final acceptance, and delivery.
  • Responsible for the creation of the Project Baseline Schedule by ensuring that all labor and material dollar activities are correctly scheduled and resource loaded to create an Integrated Schedule.
  • Builds Integrated Production Schedule (IPS) compliant with NAVSEA Std Items 009-60 or 009-111 including all required reporting output.
  • Determines Installation Repair / Construction Stage for major equipment, and removal repair and reinstallation.
  • Establish sequencing, usage phase and build location for structural components based on facility capacity and build strategy.
  • Builds Work packages to include, but not limited to:
    • Establishing steps and budgets for tasks
    • Electronically assigning material to work packages
    • Assembling applicable drawings
    • Submitting documents to Document Control for issue
  • Incorporate authorized deck plate approved changes into the IPS as they are approved.
  • Ensures that progress is accurately entered each week.
  • Oversees the schedule health metrics to ensure schedule is in compliance with Government requirements.
  • Works with vessel Project Manager and Craft Management to provide schedule and manning information to manage the construction or repair activities.
  • Responsible for the ongoing training of Production Control department planning / scheduling personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • College degree preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years relevant experience in a related manufacturing industry required, shipbuilding industry experience preferred.
  •    4 years’ progressive experience or demonstrable ability with Primavera scheduling software (support Weekly and Monthly Reporting, support Weekly and Monthly Baseline Maintenance, lead the overall scheduling effort on a project to maintain and manage the project and experience with creating the Baseline Schedule)
  • Primavera (or similar scheduling software) operation skills required.
  • Uses functional design and key plans and contract documents to create:
    • Repair and construction WBS
    • Repair work item inter-relationships
    • Production and subcontractor manning requirements
  • This position requires a strong background in Earned Value Management (EVMS) and knowledge of the EIA-ANSI 748A standard to ensure overall schedule adherence, schedule effectiveness, and system compliance.
  • Able to support the scheduling department in preparation of project Government meetings.
  • Candidate must possess a thorough understanding of planning/scheduling principles, practices, and techniques to ensure the effective use of Project Management tools.
  • Familiarity with MILL 881 Handbook – WBS structure
  • Working familiarity with Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word and Excel)
  • Process-oriented, customer service-driven, problem solver, self-starter, team player.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
  • Detail oriented and able to resolve most daily issues without specific supervisory direction.

DIRECTION EXERCISED:  Full discretionary authority to assign work

DISCRETION EXERCISED: Must be able to train and mentor Junior members of the Department.

LIASES WITH: Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Production, and Project departments, prime contractors, and the customer as requested by the company.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.

COMPENSATION: Salary range depends on relevant experience.

$96,044 - $137,868
