Job Description

REPORTS TO:  ILS Manager

SUPERVISES:  Crew Training Instructor IV, Crew Training Instructor III, Crew Training Instructor II, Crew Training Instructor I

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for training of pre-commissioning crew:

    • Develop crew training curriculum, instructor guides, student guides

    • Develop electronic presentations and audio-visual aids

    • Conduct classroom/seminar and shipboard training to meet all contractual requirements

    • Act as Crew Training Lead as required

  • Responsible for interfacing with OEMs/Suppliers to obtain Vendor Furnished Information as needed

  • Responsible for interfacing with Navy/Supship personnel on crew training related issues

  • Responsible for ensuring all change order activity that impacts crew training is processed, documented and communicated to rest of ILS Team

  • Responsible to cross-train to other areas within ILS as necessary

  • Provide technical direction to staff and serve as technical expert to troubleshoot issues within area of responsibility.

  • Provide oversight of cost and schedule performance.

  • Plan and prioritize work load to achieve objectives

  • Provide work direction and establish performance standards for employees assigned. 

  • Drive continuous improvements in safety, quality, process improvement and procedures.

  • Responsible to supply constructive feedback to employees and provides input into performance management process that may affect employment actions. 

  • Responsible to review and approve employees’ schedules, including managing and approving vacation time to ensure that sufficient resources are available to meet work requirements. 

  • Responsible to review and approve employees’ training; provides input to department budget for subordinate training needs.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • 15 years of Navy/USCG/MSC crew training instructor experience

  • Experienced in development of Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI)

  • Experienced in Instructional Design (Objectives development)

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experienced in interacting with Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, multiple design teams from several companies, customer representatives and equipment manufacturers.

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.  Related degrees advantageous

  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.

  • Prior U.S. Navy Gas Turbine technician (GSE/GSM) experience desired, but not required.

  • US Citizenship or Certificate of Naturalization is required

TOOLS:

  • MS Office, other training related software

DIRECTION EXERCISED:

  • Will determine the technical adequacy of all crew training deliverables

DISCRETION EXERCISED:

  • Will provide crew training input to all members of the ILS Team

LIAISES WITH:  Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Navy, Equipment Suppliers and ILS Support Contractors
