Job Description

REPORTS TO: Scheduling Manager

SUPERVISES: Schedulers

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

  • Sr. Project Scheduler is responsible for performing scheduling tasks, importing, exporting, maintaining, analyzing and reporting of the CPM Project Schedules using Primavera P6 for vessels in the assigned DOD Program and maintaining schedule compliance with EIA-748-C EVMS Standard
  • Responsible for managing the development of the schedule for project status
  • Provides Direction to Schedulers.
  • Responsible for providing scheduled and ad-hoc progress and status reports
  • Responsible for facilitating schedule reviews and evaluation and provide resolution to management team
  • Responsible for interface with contractor’s project controls team
  • Responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and reporting of milestones
  • Integrate all aspects of the program from Engineering, Material, Production, Sub-contracting, Testing, final acceptance, and delivery.
  • Responsible for the creation of the Project Baseline Schedule by ensuring that all labor and material dollar activities are correctly scheduled and resource loaded to create an Integrated Schedule.
  • Responsible for review and analysis of manning requirements for their assigned project and that of the other schedules in their Program.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of the monthly BAR process for a project.
  • Ensures that progress is accurately entered each week.
  • Oversees the schedule health metrics to ensure schedule is in compliance with Government requirements.
  • Works with vessel Project Manager and Craft Management to provide schedule and manning information to manage the construction of the vessel.
  • Ensures incorporation of Build Strategy Updates into the schedule
  • Work closely with Financial Analysis team to develop and maintain cost and schedule reporting systems 
  • Work closely with Project Management Team and ensure constant communication on issues and/or potential delays
  • Work closely with Change Management on Change Orders and analysis of schedule impacts.
  • Provide baseline analysis and acceptance of Critical Path Schedule including reforecasting of baseline
  • Organize and maintain imported and exported schedule files
  • Provide continued analysis of critical activities and longest path activities
  • Provide monthly reconciled baseline and active plan schedules to Financial Analysis for Government reporting
  • Provide weekly baseline and active plan schedules to Financial Analysis for internal reporting
  • Provide feedback to appropriate disciplines and management teams from requests of information 
  • Responsible for the continued development of the scheduling guidelines and procedures
  • Responsible for the ongoing training of Production Control department scheduling personnel

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 4 years progressive experience or demonstrable ability (supporting Weekly and Monthly Reporting, supporting Weekly and Monthly Baseline Maintenance, leading the overall scheduling effort on a project to maintain and manage the project and experience with creating the Baseline Schedule) with Primavera scheduling software.
  • Must be able to lead, manage, and direct the scheduling efforts of the other team members of the program scheduling group.
  • Evidence of ability to motivate and engage employees while planning and executing departmental and company business strategy.
  • This position requires a strong background in Earned Value Management (EVMS) and knowledge of the EIA-748-C EVMS Standard to ensure overall schedule adherence, schedule effectiveness, and system compliance.
  • Able to support the scheduling department in preparation of project Government meetings.
  • Candidate must possess a thorough understanding of planning/scheduling principles, practices, and techniques to ensure the effective use of Project Management tools.
  • Familiarity with MILL 881 Handbook – WBS structure
  • Working familiarity with Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word and Excel)
  • Process-oriented, customer service-driven, problem solver, self-starter, team player.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to hold meetings and present to the Program Office and Customer as needed.
  • Detail oriented and able to resolve most daily issues without specific supervisory direction.
  • High School or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or a minimum of five (5) years related experience in a related manufacturing industry required.   College degree and shipbuilding industry experience preferred.

DIRECTION EXERCISED:  Full discretionary authority to assign work

DISCRETION EXERCISED: Must be able to train and mentor Junior members of the Department.

LIASES WITH: Engineering department, Operations department, Production and Project departments, prime contractors, and the customer as requested by the company.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
